Carpentry Apprenticeship

If you have a passion for woodworks and enjoy doing what a carpenter does, then taking up an apprenticeship in Carpentry might be the right choice for you. A typical Carpentry Apprenticeship usually lasts for about 4 years and involves both theoretical and practical aspects of learning. Completing your apprenticeship successfully will add a lot to your knowledge and equip you with the right skills – a combination of these will ultimately enhance your chances of becoming employed. Also, completing your apprenticeship successfully will enable you to perform your job correctly and safely.

While you are still working as an Apprentice Carpenter, you will be earning £150 per week (and holiday pay on top of that). Up on having completed your apprenticeship successfully, you can start working as a qualified professional Carpenter and earn as much as £18,000 per annum. Note that like in every other profession, the salary tends to go up with your experience and skills.

Even though it's a very rewarding career, being a Carpenter is not everyone’s piece of cake as at times things can get very challenging too. In order to be successful in this field, you must be willing to dedicate yourself fully to work as sometimes you will be required to work long-hours (including weekends/evenings) and may have to travel a lot in order to visit the clients.
